Kellianne and I are dedicating 2020 to 750 Words, and have a lot of great improvements (and much needed fixes) planned. We will be communicating progress as we go, and promise not to make any drastic changes without plenty of heads-up and opportunities for feedback. We have every intention of keeping the simplicity and weird charm of this site that so many people use and love.
This post will be updated with news as we go. The very high-level sequence of events as we are currently thinking of them is:
Jan-May: Share plans, begin serious development of 750 Words V2.
May-Jun: Begin to let alpha testers test V2, but keep the current 750words.com running as is, and the official "primary site". Collect and respond to feedback and questions that come up.
Jul-Aug: Launch V2 side-by-side and give all existing users a chance to test and "switch" to V2 if and when they feel like they are ready.
Sep: Announce timeline for a more comprehensive migration effort (at least 60 days in advance) at which point all future writing will happen on V2. There's no rush for this so we will extend the timeline as necessary to address all unanticipated concerns or problems that come up.
